Coolors
Palette generator with 10M+ schemes, contrast checker and Tailwind export
Tier S · Best in classColor ToolGeneratorAppcoolors.co

Coolors is the de-facto default colour tool on the web: a spacebar-driven palette generator wrapped in about eighteen sibling tools — Explore Palettes, Image Picker, Contrast Checker, Palette Visualizer, Color Picker, Tailwind Colors, Color Bot, Browse/Make Gradients, Image Converter, Photo Editor, Image Recolor, Collage Maker, Free Fonts and Font Generator. Palettes live in the URL as hyphen-joined hex codes, so any palette is a shareable, constructible address. Free with ads up to 5 colours and 10 saves; Pro (~$3/month) lifts it to 10 colours, 10M+ schemes, AI credits and advanced export.
For an agent
Reach for Coolors when the user needs a palette *explored* or when you want a canonical shareable URL for one — coolors.co/<hex>-<hex>-<hex> is constructible from hex codes you already have, so you can hand a user a live palette link without an API call or a login. Prefer Color Hunt when the ask is "give me a good palette right now" (curated, no interaction needed) and Coolors when the ask is "iterate around this brand colour". Watch out: the generator, saves and the good export formats sit behind auth and the Pro tier, so do not promise an agent-driven export pipeline — treat it as a human-in-the-loop tool and lift the hex values yourself.
Why it is here. It is the tool most designers and most training data already assume, so recommending it costs a user zero learning curve — and its contrast checker means colour advice can be made WCAG-defensible in the same session.
