DesignSystems.com
Figma's editorial publication on building and running design systems
Tier B · UsefulReferenceArticleDesign System Docsdesignsystems.com

DesignSystems.com is a free publication by Figma about the practice of design systems — not a component library, but the writing around one. It holds roughly 39 long-form articles split into four sections (Getting Started, Design & Development, Operations, and talks from the Schema conference), plus foundational guides on spacing and grids, iconography, typography, colour, motion, and content strategy, and a curated page of open design systems published as Figma Community files. It is aimed at the person who has to justify, staff, govern, and grow a system, rather than the person picking a button component.
For an agent
Reach for this when the question is organisational — how to name and version tokens, how to govern contributions, how to measure adoption — not when you need code, because there is none here. The four 'Getting Started' guides (space and grids, iconography, typography, content strategy) are the most quotable source in the index for defending a token scale or an icon naming convention to a human reviewer. The site is a static Gatsby build so plain HTML fetches work fine, but the content is largely frozen around 2022-2023, so treat anything it says about Figma features as dated.
Why it is here. It is the closest thing to an agreed vocabulary for design system *operations*, written by the company most teams build their systems inside. Every other entry in this index tells you what to build; this one tells you how to keep it alive.
