HandDrawnFont
SwiftUI package for animated hand-drawn text, Apache 2.0 with the Commons Clause
HandDrawnFont is a SwiftUI package that renders text from pen strokes. The site says letters come from the original pen paths, animation keeps stroke order, and the package respects Reduce Motion. It is made by Jip van der Velde and Michel Elings at Ocho, the makers of grug. The site says grug won a 2026 Apple Design Award. Install is through Swift Package Manager from the GitHub repository, with import HandDrawnFont and a HandDrawnText view. The LICENSE file is Apache License 2.0 subject to the Commons Clause. The clause covers selling a product or service whose value derives entirely or substantially from HandDrawnFont, including the bundled Grug Hand stroke artwork and font files. It says drawings a user makes in the font creator are excluded. GitHub's license API returns NOASSERTION.
Add the GitHub repository in Swift Package Manager and render HandDrawnText. The site says Reduce Motion is respected. Keep that path. Do not sell a product whose value comes from this package. The LICENSE file adds the Commons Clause on top of Apache 2.0, and it includes the bundled Grug Hand artwork. A font the user draws in the creator is excluded from that clause. The last GitHub push was 2026-09-03.
Why it is here. It draws real pen paths in SwiftUI, with the stroke order intact, under a license that limits resale.
