css.gg is an icon library of roughly 700 UI icons built almost entirely from CSS pseudo-elements and box-shadows rather than SVG paths, so each icon inherits colour and size from the surrounding CSS. The repository also ships SVG and Figma versions, and the author's companion project GLYF*APP claims 6,000+ glyphs. The critical caveat is licensing: versions before 2.1.2 were MIT, but the current licence restricts use to personal, non-commercial projects, requires attribution to the author and the brand, and forbids derivative works.

If the user wants CSS-only icons that avoid an SVG payload, this is the reference implementation of the technique, but pinning `css.gg@2.1.1` or earlier is the only way to stay on the old MIT terms. For anything shipping to customers, prefer Iconoir or Lucide instead.
Why it is here. The best-known demonstration that a whole icon set can be drawn in CSS, and a cautionary example of an MIT library relicensed to non-commercial mid-life.
