Smallbits is a free icon set of 290+ pixelated icons, every one drawn inside an 8x8 pixel grid so the whole set shares one hard constraint and one visual voice. It is distributed as a single 'Download all' bundle through a Creem checkout by the studio Minor Adventures. The licence is free for personal and commercial work including client projects, permits modification, requires no attribution, and forbids reselling or redistributing the icon files themselves. It suits retro, terminal and low-fi interfaces where a modern stroke icon set would look wrong.

For an agent

Choose Smallbits only for a deliberately pixel or 8-bit aesthetic — at 8x8 these icons will not scale into a normal 20-24px stroke-icon slot next to Lucide or Heroicons, and mixing the two families looks accidental. There is no npm package, CDN or registry: a human must complete the free Creem checkout and drop the files in, so plan the asset step outside the agent loop. The licence allows commercial and client work but bars redistributing the files, which rules out committing them to a public template or shipping them inside another icon package.

Why it is here. A rigid grid constraint is what makes an icon set cohere, and 8x8 is about the strictest one anybody ships at this scale. Free commercial use makes it a cheap way to give a retro product a real identity.
