An archive of corporate annual-report covers, restored and credited. The collection now holds 3,002 covers spanning 1945 to 2023, with real attribution where it exists: Paul Rand, Chermayeff & Geismar Associates, Robert Miles Runyan, Arnold Saks, George Tscherny, Saul Bass and Lester Beall all appear, and IBM alone carries dozens. Coverage peaks across the 1960s and 1970s, the period when an annual report was a serious design commission. Phil Hedayatnia built the archive and states the reason plainly on the site: companies once hired designers, illustrators and artists for these reports, then stopped once layout was democratised, and he worries the same loss is about to repeat as graphics get mechanised again. The search is the second half of the project, designed and built by Rachit Pradhan. It reads design language rather than keywords, so "quiet type", "photographic sky", "playful mascot", "collage", "gold on black" and "harvest" are all real queries. Filters cut by decade, industry and colour. The archive also runs a free remote MCP server at /api/mcp over Streamable HTTP, with no key and no account. It exposes four tools — search_covers for vibe search, get_cover for one record, similar_covers for nearest neighbours in the image-and-caption embedding space, and list_facets for valid filter counts — plus a cover://{id} resource and a copy_for_ai prompt. The /mcp page gives per-client setup for Cursor, Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Devin, and it warns that Devin uses serverUrl where the others use url. An older prototype still runs at annual-reports-gallery.vercel.app. It holds the head-to-head voting and the Elo ranking that this domain does not carry, so the two are worth telling apart.

Connect the MCP server and stop parsing HTML. Add it in one line: `claude mcp add -s user -t http annual-report-archive https://annualreport.gallery/api/mcp`. There is no key and no account, and the endpoint answers 405 to a GET because it is JSON-RPC over POST. Ask in design language, not keywords. search_covers reads a phrase like "quiet type on an ivory field" or "playful 1950s mascot", and it takes optional decade, industry and colour. Call list_facets first when you want those filters to stay valid. Use similar_covers to walk a visual thread. It returns nearest neighbours in the image-and-caption embedding space with no live query embedding, which is the cheapest way to move from one cover to a family of them. Do not scrape the gallery. It is a client-rendered Next.js page with no sitemap and no robots.txt, so a plain fetch gets the shell. The llms.txt links a source repository at github.com/hedayatnia/annual-report-archive that answers 404, so treat the project as closed source for now. Reach for this for editorial and corporate design, not for UI: cover typography, grid, photographic treatment and mark usage across eight decades, with the designer named often enough to study one hand across many years.

Why it is here. Annual report covers are where mid-century corporate identity was actually practised. This is the only archive in the corpus that collects them with attribution, and the only design gallery anywhere here that lets an agent search images by design language through an open MCP server.
