Fontpair
Curated Google Fonts and Fontshare pairings, with an AI prompt export
Tier A · StrongFont ServiceGalleryToolfontpair.co
Fontpair is a typography discovery site built around hand-curated two-font combinations drawn from Google Fonts and Fontshare, filterable by Sans-Serif, Serif, Slab, Display, Monospace and Handwriting. Around the pairings it has grown a full toolbox: a playground that drops a pairing into real layouts, ~23 bundled open-source icon sets (Lucide, Phosphor, Tabler, Heroicons, Iconoir, Material Symbols and more), colour palettes, a brand extractor, an inspiration feed and a large curated directory of third-party typography tools. A Chrome extension detects fonts and colours on any site, a Figma plugin brings pairings into a file, and Pro can export a pairing as an AI design prompt aimed at Cursor, v0, Lovable and Claude Code. Free to browse; Pro unlocks favourites, collections, exports and ad-free use.
For an agent
Reach for this when a project needs a typographic direction and all you have is a vibe — it settles the heading/body question with pairings that are already known to work and are all free webfonts, so the answer converts straight into a Google Fonts or Fontshare @import. Prefer it over Fontjoy when you want human curation instead of an embedding-similarity roll of the dice, and over browsing Google Fonts directly when you need the second font too. The site is a client-rendered SPA, so scraping it yields an empty shell — use the visible pairing names, and note that favourites, exports and the AI-prompt output sit behind a paid account.
Why it is here. Type pairing is the design decision agents most reliably get wrong, and Fontpair reduces it to picking from a curated shortlist of free, self-hostable webfonts. Its AI-prompt export is a rare case of a design resource explicitly shaped for handing to a coding agent.
