Future Fonts sells typefaces that are still being drawn. A designer releases a workable v0.1, the price rises with each version, and anyone who bought early receives every later update at no extra cost. It carries roughly 367 typefaces from about 141 independent designers and foundries, including OH no Type Co, XYZ Type, Vectro and Nova. It was started in February 2018 by Lizy Gershenzon and Travis Kochel of Scribble Tone, and each designer sets their own prices and licence terms.

The only machine-readable surface is the sitemap at s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/incremental-production/sitemap/sitemap.xml.gz, which yields the /<foundry>/<font> URL for all 367 typefaces. Use it when a brief wants a weird display face nobody else has shipped; use Pangram Pangram or Velvetyne instead when you need the actual font files inside an automated build.

Why it is here. It changed how independent type gets funded by letting designers sell drafts and iterate with paying users, which is why so much genuinely new display type appears here first. Nothing else in the index gives you access to typefaces before they are finished.
