A hosted design tool where you lay out real components on a responsive canvas and pull the result down as React code through a CLI, rather than exporting a mockup. The generated code is deterministic - Subframe states it is produced without an LLM - and is built on Radix primitives with Tailwind for styling, so you own the business logic and Subframe owns the markup and classes. It ships a library of 43 documented components covering forms, overlays, navigation and charts, plus theme and icon layers, and exposes an MCP server so Claude Code or Cursor can read your designs directly. Aimed at product teams who want a shared design surface that does not end in a hand-off.
Reach for this over generating shadcn/ui screens from scratch when a human designer needs to keep editing the layout after you ship it - the round trip through the visual editor is the whole point, and the Radix + Tailwind output drops into an existing shadcn codebase without a second styling system. Connect its MCP server before you start writing components, otherwise you will hand-transcribe designs you could have read. Watch out: the component library and templates live behind an account, the CLI sync command is not published on the public docs pages, and the emitted code is a snapshot - hand-editing a synced component is overwritten on the next pull.
Why it is here. One of the few design tools whose output is real Radix and Tailwind source rather than an LLM's guess at your design, which makes it safe to keep in a production repo.
