Sue Ellen Zhang is a Chinese American artist born in 2000. She holds a B.A. in Linguistics and Psychology from UCLA. Her site holds an artist statement, an exhibition list and two galleries. The section at /generative holds nine works, numbered experiment.01 to experiment.09. They are exported stills rather than live code, so nothing runs in the browser. Every one carries a written description of its colour and form, such as "Generative abstract work with pale peach, neon yellow, red, and soft translucent forms". Those nine descriptions are the reason the page is worth reading: most image galleries give an agent nothing. The home page shows the oil paintings. It opens on "A Pollinator Only Thinks of Harvest" from 2025, oil on canvas at 30 by 40 inches. Her statement names the argument behind the work. She was trained in fine art, piano and ballet, and she calls those "systems of precision and discipline". Her words: "Zhang treats ambiguity not as a lack of clarity, but as a condition of perception itself". The exhibition list runs to seven shows in 2025 and 2026, including the Triton Museum of Art, SF Design Week and two New York galleries. Two of the five navigation links, Studio and Physical, return 404. The site is under construction.

The home page loads its paintings after the JavaScript runs, so a fetch of the root returns one work and no more. Use the nine descriptions as reference language for a colour brief. They name a ground and a mark type in one line, which is the shape a colour prompt wants. Do not treat this as a tool. The nine works are PNG files, not code. There is no source, no repository and no parameters to drive. The file names are ol.png, ai-bg-039.png and frame-30-1.png through frame-38.png, and the site does not say how any of them were made. Skip /studio and /physical. Both return 404 even though the navigation links to them. The site publishes no llms.txt, no sitemap.xml and no robots.txt. All three return 404.

Why it is here. It is a working example of a painter treating a generative series as part of one practice rather than as a separate act. The nine written colour descriptions also make an image gallery legible to an agent, which almost no artist site bothers to do.
