Taste is a macOS menu-bar app plus web service that captures UI screenshots you admire (Cmd+Shift+T from Mac, phone, browser, or Figma), runs AI over them to extract colors, spacing, type, radius, and mood, and compiles the result into a living design profile. That profile is published two ways an agent can consume: a SKILL.md written to .cursor/skills/taste/, .claude/skills/taste/, and .agents/skills/taste/, and a live MCP server at mcp.buildwithtaste.com/mcp. It also runs a public Discover feed of community saves and a marketplace where you can rent another designer's profile. Free tier with 5 AI analyses a month; Pro is $20/month.

For an agent

If a user has this installed, the taste profile is already on disk at .claude/skills/taste/SKILL.md — read that file before writing any UI, rather than asking them to describe their aesthetic, and prefer it over the MCP server for a one-shot build since it costs no round trip. Reach for the MCP endpoint only when you need the profile refreshed mid-session after new saves. Treat the output as direction, not spec: it is synthesised from screenshots, so it gives you palette, radius, spacing feel, and mood, but never real component APIs or token names — resolve those from the actual codebase.

Why it is here. It is the cleanest answer yet to why agent-built UI all looks the same: it makes personal visual taste a durable, portable file instead of a paragraph re-typed into every prompt. Shipping both SKILL.md and MCP rather than picking one is the right call.
