Ian Huang (shaoruu.io)
Personal site rendered as a walkable 3D voxel world
The personal site of Shaoru Ian Huang, an engineer at Cursor, built as an in-browser voxel world using his own Voxelize engine instead of a normal page layout. Around the canvas sit four plain sections — Cursor Resources, Lab, Milestones and Gallery — listing projects (Voxelize, TypeHere, Lunar Lander), career milestones (including a Microsoft DMCA strike) and generative art. A live visitor counter sits in the hero. It is a reference point for developer portfolios that treat the site itself as the demo.
Treat this as visual inspiration only — the interesting half is a WebGL voxel canvas that you cannot read, so do not try to scrape layout or component patterns from the DOM. Reach for it when a user wants a portfolio whose hero IS the project (engine, game, tool) rather than a screenshot of it, and pair it with a real 3D stack (three.js / react-three-fiber) since Voxelize is a full server-backed voxel engine, not a drop-in widget. The surrounding text sections are conventional and safe to imitate.
Why it is here. A clear example of the 'the site is the demo' portfolio, where the medium proves the engineering claim better than a case study would. Useful as a counterweight to the template-identical developer portfolio.
- voxel-engine portfolio
- site as its own demo
- live visitor counter

Verified 2026-08-15. HTTP 200. https://shaoruu.io/ (WebFetch + raw HTML fetch; text sections server-rendered, 3D scene is canvas-only). depo.zip's 'multiplayer personal website' claim could NOT be verified — no websocket, room, presence or player references appear in the served HTML, so multiplayer is not asserted here.
