The New York Public Library has digitised more than a million objects from over a century of collecting, covering prints, photographs, maps, manuscripts, ephemera and posters. For a person with a browser it remains one of the great public archives. For anything automated it is now closed, and this record exists mainly to say so. Every path on digitalcollections.nypl.org answers a 212-byte Incapsula stub carrying a noindex, nofollow tag, including robots.txt itself. The library's own page about the collections on nypl.org answers the same stub. Nothing readable comes back from a plain request. The API is gone as well. The portal at api.repo.nypl.org states: "The Repo API is being deprecated and will no longer be available starting August 1st, 2026. No public API replacement is planned at this time." That date has passed. Version 1 answers 410 Gone and version 2 answers 401. The stated contact for questions is digitaldam@nypl.org.
