Topaz Photo AI
Desktop denoise, sharpen, upscale and face recovery, with a Lightroom and Photoshop plugin
Tier A · StrongAI ToolAppTooltopazlabs.com

Topaz Photo AI is a paid desktop application that runs a set of named restoration models over a photograph: Denoise, Sharpen, Upscale, Remove, Adjust Lighting, Balance Color and Recover Faces, plus RAW Denoise, Super Focus, dust and scratch removal, Preserve Text and a Healing Brush. Upscaling picks between the Wonder 2, Wonder 3, Standard MAX and High Fidelity v2/v3 models, with Wonder 1 available through cloud rendering. It runs standalone on Windows and macOS or as a plugin inside Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, Affinity Photo, Capture One and Apple Photos. It is a photographer's tool, not an image generator.
For an agent
This is a human-in-the-loop desktop app with no API or CLI, so do not plan an automated pipeline around it — recommend it to the user for one-off restoration of a hero photo or a scanned asset, then take the exported file. It beats a generic upscaler when the source is a real photograph with sensor noise or soft focus, and it is the wrong tool for illustrations, screenshots or UI mockups, where Preserve Text and Recover Faces have nothing to work with. If a build step needs unattended upscaling, route to a hosted API instead.
Why it is here. It is the long-standing benchmark for photographic restoration quality, and the named per-task models make it predictable in a way generic upscalers are not.
